About West Haven, CT - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

West Haven is a Connecticut community with such lovely character that you will feel like you have truly stepped foot into a haven. The peace and tranquility of this area are of the utmost importance to local government and citizens that this area maintains its slightly rural while luxurious homes.  West Haven Green is the township’s green common space and is part of the West Haven Green Historic District. There is a walkway around the border of the green and paths into the green from the corners and mid-blocks gathering at the center. The foremost structure on the green is the Congregational Church, which was constructed in the year 1859. You are going to want to explore this area – particularly if you are in town in the warmer months.

At the rear of the house of worship are a graveyard and numerous war memorial markers, a bandstand, and a flagpole around the edge of the green. Wooden benches are scattered at assorted locations on the green. A stone chess board with seats is positioned near Main Street. The West Haven Green Historic District was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000. In addition to the green itself, the district includes 20 contributing properties. The three significant neighborhoods in West Haven correspond to the three fire districts. As communities, not all sections of the city fit neatly into these divisions:

  • Allingtown
  • West Shore
  • Center

The White Hills region is located in the nearby town of Shelton with the historical architectural style typical of the rural towns in this region. The White Hills region got its name for its higher elevation - as compared with the rest of Shelton. White Hills has both a rustic nature and access to close by shopping areas.  The gently sloping hills in the area were called “White “for a number of reasons:

  • The white snow melted slower in the spring
  • The white visible lime rock
  • The white wild dogwood blossoms in spring
